Week 3 Assignment 2 Shawnay Freeman

Hello everyone this blogging is really something very new to me. I guess it will grow on me soon. I hope:) Well this week was very intense if I do say so my self. Upon doing my research I used the letherby libraries and I found it a little difficult at first but when I put certain topics or sentences in I found somethings could be found and some could not be found. I put my title in and I came up with nothing but when I put keywords in and only entered Psychological Assessments I found 24 results.  I talk to one of the librarians she showed me how to research through their library and I found that to be very helpful. They welcome us all to call and take a connect meeting. It was very helpful. I am not saying I am a pro at it but it is getting a lot easier. I started out with a different book in my last paper we wrote so my book has changed. My topic is still on the Psychological assessment of under age children but I am now using Understanding Children by  Schickedanz, Schickedanz, Hansen, and Forsyth . I choose this book because the book I found online through the leatherby libraries would not get to me in time to turn in this weeks assignment. I found that this book helped me better understand the different stages that a child's mind develops at. The development of a child goes through certain processes and development is on going. The book talks about assessing children, how they are assessed and what level or degree the assessments go. The assessments that are used in assessing children and there are three parts to this assessment. Researching as helped me better understand my topic in so many ways. I love the development of the mind and this books shows and takes you through a journey of the under age, school age and adolescent age mind. This book has so much research on my topic it is unbelievable. Researching this week has showed me so many different ways children develop. The brain is like a sponge and when dealing with under age children they pick up everything and they absorb it quickly.

  1. First let me start off by saying great post Shawnay I enjoyed reading it. I also used the Leatherby Library but had a difficult time looking at at least a summary for the books. I decided to do a Google search and found several books on my topic of Post traumatic Stress Disorder. I was directed to a web site called The National Academies Press, www.nap.edu. I was able to sign in as a guest and even download a free version of the book in a PDF file. Maybe this website will also be able to assist you in the future. Thanks again for your input, I will defiantly look to the Liberians should I continue to have trouble.
