Welcome

Hello welcome to my blog my name is shawnay Freeman. I am a Early Childhood Education major with a minor in psychology. I have been attending Brandman University since fall 1 and this is my first semester attending Brandman. I am very excited and motivated to move on to Fall 2 and so ready to get my Bachelors degree that I can taste it. I am also in the process of opening up a child care center in Apple Valley in the near future. This is one of my career goals. I am also thinking about entering in the psychology masters progress after I receive my BA in Early childhood Education. I feel I can become a better scholar researcher and use of information in this class by using the resources that the book gives me to find the information I am looking for. I believe this class will show me how to effectively find information and that the information is credible.  The book tells me that  the ACRL 2000 is based on the Association of College & Research Libraries'. The ACRL is defined in this book as the ability " to recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate and use effectively the needed information. (Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education, page 2) This will also teach me how to use the information effectively and accurately

  1. Shawnay,
Welcome to the class and i feel the same way about getting my Bachelors degree. Its like i want to do the work as fast as i can and get it over with. However with much time I'm sure we will all soon be proficient at finding reliable source of information.

  2. Shawnay: as the ability " to recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate and use effectively the needed information. This is the definition of information competency. The ACRL is the association that publishes it. Joy Chase
