Week 4 Assignment 1a Shawnay Freeman

While researching the leatherby libraries  I found a lot of journals that were not about my topic.I also found several articles by doing an advanced search in the leatherby libraries,  in the journal search. Many of the articles that were on my subject did not talk about certain testing in assessing underage children. So I had to further my search . I found two articles that were very similar to my subject. One of those articles were "Test an evaluation of performance in typically developing and clinically referred children" In reviewing this article and others gave me a better understanding of children who are assessed by testing , and other forms of testing. The most helpful research strategy I believe was using the leatherby Journal search. It was pretty simple. I just went  to the library homepage went to journal finder click advance search, entered psychological assessment and several journals came up. I searched over many journals before I found one that was similar to my subject. I did experience some difficulties.I could not tell if it was an academic journal, if it was just a journal, or if there was a difference. I hope that made sense. While further researching my topic I hope to find out if psychological assessments can determine if underage/preschool age children have (ADHD)

  1. Kaori,
I see where you’re going with your topic, and I had the same issues with my topic as well. I have tried several techniques to include change and adding deferent words around to gather the hard core information about my topic..''Police Corruption'' and kept getting police corruption in other countries,. Sometimes it take a bit linger to find what we need from the letherby's library. What I did what stick to other domains such as the good ol goggle search, Wikipedia, and major police websites the many department uses. Letherby's library I will still use, but as a secondary option instead. Good luck with your research.

  2. Kaori,
While reading your post, I noticed that you were having issues with finding information on the database. I had quite the opposite experience with finding a resource, while searching using academic premier, I typed in a couple of keywords and checked the box for peer-reviewed. I received about 50 links, and only about 3 were helpful. I was wondering if you checked the box on the left labeled scholarly peer reviewed journals? Once I checked that box I instantly found what I was looking for. What keywords did you use in your search? I'm curious to know, perhaps that is the reason why you had some difficulty. At first I had issues with my topic as well but once I trimmed up my search and changed my keywords. Good luck with your research
